Atallia: Our bariatric surgery center is located in Tijuana, Mexico, which is one of the most affordable cities to have a bariatric surgery. Karen: We have persons from all over the United States, Canada, and sometimes even Europe. They come here to Mexico to have medical treatment. Atallia: We have as well a multi-disciplinary weight loss specialist with distinguished surgeons, surgical nurses, anesthesiologists, that are taking care of our patients. Dr. Garfias: We have everything, like in other hospitals, like in the States. All the medical doctors who work here with Dr. Garcia, we are board certified. Patient 1: I'm a nurse. I can say without a doubt, as a medical professional, it was above-board. Everything was perfect. So everything was up to United States standards, if not above. The place is immaculate. I have never seen a hospital this clean ever. I'm very, very pleased. And the facility's just gorgeous. Patient 2: I had the surgery December 26th, and as of yesterday I'm down 60 pounds. My lab work has not been within normal limits since before 2008. I had lab work done last week. It's completely within normal limits. I'm not tired anymore. I sleep all night. It's just been amazing. You know, it's just completely changed my life. Dr. Garcia: Helping my patients to achieve their dreams is very, very important for me because when they send me pictures or testimonials, it's very fulfilling for me to give to my patients a better quality of life. Patient 1: But I'm just excited about getting on with my life and changing my life. I'm fixing to be a Grandma, and so I want to live life. I'm tired of being fat and not being able to do the things I want to do. Dr. Velazco: For me as a doctor, it makes me feel very, very happy to be part of the change in patients. I'm a bariatric patient as well, so I know what they go through. Dr. Pasten: The reason why I chose to become a doctor was to provide a human-quality care for the patients. Dr. Garfias: And the first time I was in touch with the patient, I knew it was the best decision I'd ever made. Patient 2: They actually showed you that they cared. They just didn't tell you that they cared. They actually showed you. Dr. Garcia: We try to make the patient feel like in their homes, or completely comfortable because we know it's a really difficult decision on their lives. Dr. Garfias: Team is like a family and that's why we treat the patient like a family. Atallia: They do something more. They look beyond the patient's needs. Patient 1: So everybody was real professional. They were really friendly. All your questions were answered. I cannot say...I don't think I could've been any happier. Patient 2: It wasn't just another patient that they were taking care of. It was an actual person that they were taking care of and that means a lot.
