I was always the chubby kid growing up, and I grew up to be the overweight adult. So that was one of the hardest things for me basically was juggling with my weight. I tried all the diets in the book. I tried the pills and the shots and the shakes and the calorie counting and everything, but nothing really worked for me. So when I hit my highest weight of 177 pounds, and the doctors told me that getting diabetes from my parents was basically inevitable, it was bound to happen if I didn't get my weight under control, I knew that I needed a change for me.
So, I started looking into bariatric surgery. I talked to many doctors and I did my research, and of course, it was scary looking into all of that. But once I met Dr. Garcia, I knew that he was the doctor for me. He's just different; he's a genuinely good person. That's hard to say for people in general and especially when it comes to doctors because we go with that stereotype that doctors are cold-hearted, or that they don't care for their patients and he's everything but that.
He really cares for his patients before, during and after surgery, and he just makes you feel so comfortable that you know that you're doing the right decision.
